Can Anyone Help ID a 1962 Tele Custom Body?
I have an Ocean turquiose (white binding) Tele Custom body with neckplate. Serial number on neck plate places it as 1962.
I have had the guitar fully assembled (with a newer, incorrect maple neck) since the day I purchased it. I bought a '62 reissue rosewood neck to install on it, and a vintage style bridge and 'guard, so I am getting ready to take it apart. I am wondering what I should look for to help confirm it's age. Thanks to anyone for their info and advice. |

You'll get the most relevant input in these parts by taking detailed pics when you have it apart, and posting them here, or better yet linking to them. As you are likely aware, the neck plate is just about the last thing used to authenticate or date a Tele.
Detailed pics of the routs (including inside), the neck pocket, the back, the string ferrules... Maybe some measurements. You get the idea. Do you believe the finish to be original? |
