Custom Decals??

Is there a good source for getting a custom decal for my parts casters? I don't want a waterslide or Fender. I want something different and easy to deal with. Anyone have an idea?[/b]

What's easier than a water slide?! You can even make white water slide decals with the right paper.

You could print your own with an inkjet printer and decal paper .......... if you don't need gold or silver.

Easy enough to make your own using a regular laser printer and stick-on decal paper. If you want something different, have a look at the "Babe-alicious" font.

For a more traditional approach, the "Fender" logo is in a font I didn't have on my computer, and one you have to pay for to acquire. However, I was able to find a freeware font that looks exactly like the real one. It's called "Banff Normal." I found it in a university archive webpage from Canada, but I don't recall the URL. Absolutely free download though.

I don't know the name of the font they used for the "TELECASTER" part of the decal.

Here's a link to the Banff Normal font.
Banff Normal

A slightly better font might be Banffn available here

banffn

The "e" looks better.

That banffn is an improvement, I agree. Any idea what to use for the "TELECASTER" font?

The "TELECASTER" font is from the Futura font family. To be precise, it is rendered either in Futura Book or Futura Light; both of these look quite similar, but "TELECASTER" (and all of the other top Fender models' names on decals from the 1950's and early-'60s) is definitely one of those two Futura fonts. I just can't tell which one. If I had to pick one, it would be Futura Book.

As for the actual logo, vectored, measured letters are the way to go. The Fender logo, whether the old "spaghetti" style, or the "modern" style created by Robert Perine, came from no font, per se; instead they were probably first rendered by hand using curve templates and graph paper. (Any graphic artists here could no doubt expound upon this process a lot better than I can. )

I just realized this but although the fonts discussed above look something like certain Fender decals, the "e" is completely different.

Yes- the Fender 'e' is actually the capital 'E' of that font. You have to re-size it, and do a little Photo-Shopping on it to make it work lower case...
