where to find vintage pickup wire
Hi guys,
I need to replace the wiring on two old pickups but I can't find the same kind, it's a fabric coated wire with inside the hot wire surrounded by some kind of mesh which is for grounding, I can not even find a picture! does any of you know where to get one? |

You might try www.alliedelectronics.com
They are not a musical supplier, but an all inclusive electronic component supplier. I have gotten materials from them to use in experimental pickup builds and guitar and amp repairs and mods. Not sure if they have cloth coated wire, never tried to find it. But they have a vast assortment of wire, and cheaper than most sources. |

I guess this is the only option available on the market, in this case I need to open up the pickup and replace the wire form the very start, which could be tricky! |

Why not cut wire where it comes out of pickup, solder new wire and cover joint with small section of shrink tube? Just a thought.
