Sitar sound on high E
My high E Sitars,Even when open freting.Could the frets crowns be flat? There is plenty of space between bottom of string to top of frets,Also the B and G ping when I turn the keys..It is a boatneck with 6100 wire w/ 71/4 radius

sounds like the nut slots are too tight... or need cleaning out...
try lifting them upwards out of the slots to see if they bind.. run the edge of some A4 paper through the finer slots... some folks use a bit of graphite from a pencil to lube the slots... have you put larger gauge strings on lately?... the nut might only be cut for 9's..
