Ugh...I need wiring help....
I wanted to try a Duncan Antiquity brigde pup in my Am. Series Tele since I happen to have one from another project---but I can't get it wired to work with the AmSer neck pup. Help, please!
I figured I needed to reverse the leads on the Duncan and that at least got me the proper sound in each switch position, but now I get mucho noise when I touch the strings/knobs/bridge with the switch in positions 1 or 2. When I let go of the guitar, the noise is gone. I'm assuming it has something to do with that small mess of ground wires all through the control and bridge routes not normally found in "vintage" layouts. Any informed opinions would be appreciated---thanks!

It's usually best... when leads have to be reversed to place pickups in phase... to reverse them on the neck pickup, even running a separate wire to the neck pickup cover if you're using one.
The bridge pickup is usually grounded to the bridge... and if you reverse those leads - your bridge is now "hot".

Joe....So I would be better to wire the Duncan pup as was the AmSer bridge pup (ground to a lug in the bridge route and hot to the switch) and then just reverse the neck ground and hot?
And yes, the neck cover already has its own ground run to the vol. pot. Thanks!

Ok... dang it, I won't. Hey ub... how about a couple more hints. Like what kind of guitar... what model of duncan pickup... what position (neck, middle, bridge) is the pickup for...

I wished i could understan wiring. Tried several times now, the last time i thought i did it right. downloaded esquire wiring from fender it still donīt work right. Intalling a 5/2 duncan bridge pickup. Iīve read the esquire mod post between joeaarthur and ole fuzzy. Iīm gonna try one of the their wiring but now i think the reason it donīt work right is that duncan wire his pickups different than fender, yellow/white are like fenders black, i cannot find any other reason why my esquire wiring donīt work properly..
By the way, do not need that third bassy position. |

What?
how many wires on the five/two and what colors are they?
did you go to the Seymour Duncan website and wire it up like the schematic in the support section there?

REPEAT - the color of wire doesn't make a difference. EXCEPTION - Look at the pickup. If one of those wires is connected to a plate on the bottom of the pickup, then pretend that is the same as Fender black.

five/two esquire sounds cool..
ub just wire it like this (click on link) only pretend the white wire is your yellow wire
esquire if this doesn't sound right reverse your yellow and black wires on the switch..
