need tool advice
Hi folks.
I'm trying to fit a pickguard around the neck. the new one is a little tight. i made the STOOPID mistake of trying to finesse it with a utility knife. after i put a 90 deg adjustment in, i realized this tool didn't allow me to radius the fit. DOH!! anyway, i stopped before i did anything really stupid. does anyone have an ideal tool of choice i.e. certain size round file etc. that they use for such a job, and or a special technique? thanks in advance....

hrumph!
thanks guys.
i was feeling really upset/mad/furious/frustrated earlier. aside from me screwing up the thing by using a xacto knife, (of which i know better) the stupid thing still has a huge gap to the control plate. oddly enough, i even tried it on the same model in the store, just to make sure. it fit perfectly there ! DOH I'm very fussy about things fitting correctly, and to look down and see the pickguard fitting poorly would always bother me. so there is probably not much hope for it... anyway, after telling my girlfriend about my frustration she suggested i just walk away from it for a while and possibly having a 'BURNING CEREMONY' for the stupid pickguard. while i wouldn't do that, i certainly did appreciate her trying to console me. I will try a dowel with sandpaper, and see if there is any hope of salvaging this operation.... more to follow.... g.
