Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder - Tapped
I just picked up a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound bridge pickup in the tapped version (STL - 3t). The package and website say to sub a 5 way switch for the 3 way. Two questions; 1. Can the pickup be wired to the standard 3 way switch? 2. If I use a 5 way switch, what combinations does it produce? Also does anyone know of any other online resources for any of this. I checked all of the usual suspects to no avail.
Thanks! |

Sure it can be wired to a 3-way but if you want to do the coiltapping thing with the selector switch your options are quite limited. You could either get (neck, neck + tapped bridge, untapped bridge) or (neck, neck + untapped bridge, tapped bridge).
I think the general idea with the 5-way is that you wire it so that the mid position gives you the neck pickup and the extreme outer positions give you tapped and untapped bridge pickup. The 2 and 4 positions give the combination of bridge (tapped and untapped) and neck. Best regards, HArald |
