Vintage vs Gotoh modern bridge
Is there a difference in the placement of a vintage vs modern bridge as far as distance from the neck? For instance, I tried swapping a vintage bridge with the Gotoh modern on my Xaviere tele but I could not adjust the saddles far enough forward to compensate all the strings for flatness. The mounting and string through holes lined up perfectly but I just couldn't get it to compensate correctly.
Any help would be appreciated! |

The Gotoh modern style bridge is designed to be a drop in replacement on a vintage style Tele so there *shouldn't* be an issue, but obviously there is one.
I don't know anything about the Xaviere guitars, but I'm guessing that they're the culprit here. The easy solution to the problem is just to buy longer intonation screws. Take one to the hardware store so you can match up the threads. |

Xaviere is the brand Guitar fetish sells online. I didn't think there was a difference as far as placement. Is there a specific number in inches from the neck that the bridge should be? If you were building from scratch how would you determine were to put the string through or mounting holes?
Thanks! |
