HELP! Wiring problem!
I'm getting really frustrated here. I'm trying to solder my Esquire with just a pickup, volume and tone. I'm using this diagram: http://www.seymourduncan.com/pdfs/su...1vol_1tone.pdf
I've done everything exactly according to the schematic. Done it over and over again, always double checking for mistakes. Yet I still get a lot of noise and turning the pots has no effect on the sound. I've done much more advanced wirings before, I don't understand how this can cause so much trouble. I've also tried it with a separate ground wire from the volume pot to the bridge. Doesn't make the noise go away. Bottom line: Lots of noise and nonfunctional pots. Is it possible that I burned the pots?

Make sure nothing is grounded that shouldn't be, for example. the capacitor wire that leads to the middle leg of the tone pot, does it touch the pot case? Does something on the control plate touch shielding when installed?

Hmm, make sure that one lug of the volume pot is soldered solid to the pot case (grounded. Also is it possible the jack leads are backward if you're getting a lot of noise all the time? Double check that...
