GFS Vintage Split Humbucker- Classic Fender Style

Has anybody tried these?:

I am not looking for an exact re-creation. I know that there are some out there but are very pricey. I have an SX Tele that is just begging for some mods and I was thinking that these might just be a nice unique addition. They sure would look cool. I would love to hear from you if you have had any experience with these.

I played a guitar with them at a guitar show. I think it was made by Nikita Custom Guitars or something like that. Nice guitar.

However, I've sadly never played a real WRHB to be able to compare.

I just bought one to go in the bridge position of my '91 MIK Squier II Strat for an overhaul (lets face it, crap single-coils + crap plywood body = total crap). Kinda rolled the dice, because I'd never heard the actual pickup before. I wired it into my Strat using a single 500K pot for volume, and a treble bleed mod (consisting of two .001uf capacitors and a 100K resistor, all running in parallel), and it doesn't sound too far off from a MIM reissue Wide Range. It pretty much sounded like I imagined it to sound: think vintage-style mid-output humbucker with a twang. Mine wasn't really muddy at all, it's bright but not harsh. I think the Vintage Split is a deal for $30, as long as you don't expect it to sound like an original Cunife Wide Range. That's the thing. Be realistic, and you should be pleased with the results.
