String thru body
I Took the bridge off my guitar (1999 Affinity Tele ). I noticed 6 holes
drilled about half way thru. Is it possible to finish drilling them , get ferules drill 6 holes in the bridge therefore having a string thru body? Would like to put humbucker in bridge position and tap one coil using 6 position switch. |

I'm sure it can be done. If you feel comfortable doing it, then go for it. I would just order a new bridge, I think your looking at about 30 bucks. Would be well worth it I think.
Drilling the holes will be easy enough, but lay them out and drill them from the back so your ferrules aren't all crooked. ( If the other holes are correct ) |

Check the home depot section. There's a right way to do it and it's not drilling through all the way because a thin 1/8 bit will wander. You need to make a simple pin registration jig to drill the through holes and then locate the countersinks for the ferrules.

I got ferrules from gfs - though many vendors can supply you with them. There is, then, the question of whether or not going string-through is really worth it or makes a difference - but that's not what you asked! Greg |

Here is a link to the Jack Well's thread showing his elegant ferule spotting procedure:
http://www.tdpri.com/forum/2400363-post31.html n.b. I have to wonder if the person who drilled the holes halfway, and then planted a top loader over it, somehow detected that the drills were deflected too much in the OP's case. |
