prefab control plates?

Does anyone make and sell pre-assembled and pre-wired control plates with the switch and pots? I'd like to find an Esquire control assembly to swap into a '50s Mexicaster.

Callaham has them. Not sure what the cost is and I have never used them. They are not very difficult to wire by yourself.

Yeah... someone else mentioned they got one... When I looked into them, they were pretty darn expensive... like 40 or 50 bucks... maybe the search option will prove useful? I know someone has written about it... recently too...

Try here

This fella sells some swapped MIM parts, including (sometimes) loaded control plates at rather cheap prices, have a look. You'll have to resolder those wires to obtain an Esquire wiring, of course.

I'll check later

There's a company that advertises in Vintage Guitar Magazine - they have all sorts of control plate/pickups assemby parts. they may be less expensive than Callaham. The thing about Callaham, though, is that their stuff is absolutely top-shelf.

I believe that Callaham's control plate is stainless steel, like most of their stuff. If you're cool with that it's fine, but it is historically the wrong material for a Telecaster. The control plate should be chrome plated steel.

Here's the company I mentioned . . .

Acme Guitar Works

Never used them - just saw their ad in Vintage Guitar.
