AM Std mushy, flat bass - Help!

I have an 07 AM Std tele all stock except pups. The low E and A strings sound flat and mushy (especially the low E.) I really noticed it when I installed a set of Barden PUPs. I thought it was the Bardens but I reinstalled my SCNs and while it is a bit less noticeable, it is still there. I think the Bardens just point out all weaknesses since they are so clear and transparent.

I have the action set up on the strings pretty good (5/64ths.) The bridge plate is tight. Alder body/maple neck.

It sounds like the strings are decades old but they are of course new. (several sets so I can eliminate a bad set - d'Addario 10's)

Any ideas? Bridge upgrade? Its a lemon, sell and buy 52RI?

Thanks, yeah a different brand of strings is a good idea. Playing through a 12" speaker, Valvetrain amp (Nice ) and none of my other guitars sound flat like this in the bass through the same rig.

I'd try some GHS Boomers .010-.046...and make sure you have some relief in your neck, and it wouldn't hurt to crank up those E & A saddles a tad higher then your 5/64"....not much, just a little.
