Why not use No Load pots for all tone controls?
I have just ordered a Fender No Load 250k pot from here
http://www.axesrus.com/axeElectronicsPots.htm to use as a blender pot on a Strat to bring in series wiring. This came from a discussion in this thread http://www.tdpri.com/forum/stratocas...ml#post2713542 But reading the blurb about the pot, it seems logical to use a pot that switches out of the circuit for all tone controls. So is there a reason this isn't done more widely? I think the US Standards use something similar? Are there any disadvantages to using No Load pots, apart from the extra expense? Mike |

It's fine in most instances. Sometimes, having the pots dull down the sound from the guitar a little is a good thing. If you wire a pickup directly to the output jack and listened to the sound you'll hear some different qualities, some you'll like, others you might not.
There's a lot of trial and error involved in getting the most from a particular guitar. |
