Seymour Duncan APTR

I installed a APTR in my acoustic guitar and wired it to the specs of the wiring diagram from Seymour Duncan. I have two issues one the volume only works at three quarter to full volume, nothing at the low end of the pot.

The other problem is I don't have a bridge to wire the ground to. I have a slotted bridge so I wired the ground to the strings using a small wire at the base of the bridge. It works great but only as long as I'm in contact with the strings. I have shielded the low voltage wires in foil and soldered them to the pots. There is still a little to much hum.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a couple of problems, starting with a bad volume pot.

Unless you have a metal trapeze that anchors your strings, don't worry about grounding the bridge. The sleeve of your output jack is your ground, so the ground of the pickup can go to that. If the leads aren't long enough, wire the ground to the back of the volume pot and make sure that's grounded well.

The hum could be a couple of things, but my guess is that if you get the volume pot working most of that hum will go away.
