nocaster pups vs kinman broadcasters vs lollars?!
My nocaster bridge in my nocaster relic is fantastic but I'm not sure about the bridge - it does a nice country grind but it could be clearer - could it be too hot?
How do the kinman broadcasters compare - are they similar? Do lollar offer anything similar? Are nocaster pups generally regarded as good but not on the same page as the boutiques? |

Kinman Broadcaster Avn48's are kind of weird to me. I have a set of Kinman Broadcaster Avn48's in a Squier, but they will have to go as soon as I can afford something else. I have had them in a 8502 before, but didn't like them there either.
While the neck pickup is very bright the bridge pickup has very little top end (just as advertised). It works very good with distorted sounds, but cleans and dirty-cleans sounds boring to me. No sparkle and some overly thick, slightly muddy mids. Pretty much like a humbucker. They are very height sensitive, but I can't seem to find a spot where they work for me. If I lower them, the mids clear a bit but there is no top end at all. I run the bridge pickup lower on the bass side. I have not used the other pickups mentioned, so I can't really compare, but from what I read in your post they may be similar to the Nocasters. |
