HELP...please make Ravi go away!!

My new Rondo Douglas Tele is pretty nice overall..EXCEPT for the un-wanted imitation of a Sitar when you hit the open "B" string. It's fine from f-1 all the way up - no buzzes or fret-outs - but open just sounds like ..."Ravi-oli". Guess I'm gonna have to rip the nut out unless someone here can help!

Your nut is pinching the string, all you need to to is widen the nut slot slightly. You can use some fine sandpaper, just remember to go slow and check along the way.

Sounds like a problem with a low slot. I don't think I'd deepen it any.

Normally a sitar like sound results from too little back angle in the slot...another words the string is contacting too much nut surface.

take a pencil and rub it through the slot in the nut.

Why does that sound dirty?????

I'm with mellecaster......If ya don't have files use a ol' string to get in there and getcha better angle on......you'll probally widen it slightly but go ahead and lube it...lip balm....pencil lead and chap stick......usually if its tight in the slot you'll get a ping when tuning......take ya time.....little bit at a time- check it.

Graph-tech nuts are cheap really compared to other gear we think we must have.....order up.
