Pots/Caps for Esquire with Lil Puncher

I've done a search, but couldn't really find anything definitive.

I'm going to try throwing a GFS Lil Puncher XL (Modern Vintage) in an esquire. Should I switch the pots to 500k? Also, it currently has the .047 cap, and then a .022 cap to the switch. Should I use these same values, or use .022 on both, or something else?

I know the answer is probably that "there's no right way, just do what sounds best to you". But I would like a general starting point - what would typically be the "preferred way".

Thanks for any help!

I would recommend changing the volume pot to a 500k and the tone to a 250k one to get a better sweep.
GFS has 'em. I have 'em in my telecaster and I have more control over the volume and tone pots.

Thanks for the recommendation, surfco! Any ideas on the caps?

Anyone else care to jump in?

Thanks, Colt. I think I'll try one 500k and just fiddle around with different cap values until I find something I like...

Okay, just an update with a follow up question...

I did this last night - 500k volume, 250k tone, .022 cap in both positions. I like the sound, though I might go to a .01 in the cocked wah position (should be a little less bassy, right?)

My question is, what effect on the sound would it have if I replaced the 250k tone pot with a 500k (I would then have 2 500k pots)?

thanks again!

If I understand the principle correctly it would open up the raunchiness of the guitar. Give it more spank so to speak.
In all reality, it would probably just sound like you ran your guitar through an OD pedal.

I haven't experimented with this type of stuff to give you an experience answer.
