About Neck Humbucker
Hi,
I put (this week) a neck humbucker on my Standard Telecaster. I was very dispointed with my new sound. Too many bass for my taste. I try to put a 250k resistor between the humbucker and the selector but with no good result . This evening i find the solution: i just pull down the humbucker on bass strings and pull it up on treble strings, like the bridge PU. Now it sound very well. Simple solution are often the best !

That's why...
....I got a Fralin Unbucker (7,5k). It has more clarity on the bass strings (due to uneven wound coils). It has a split coil too. Gives me 5 options.
I do have some trouble adjusting the bridgepu to match the volume of the Unbucker. I am using a Fralin Steelpole 43 for the bridge position. What are your experiences matching the two pu's ? cheers Erik |

hmmm, that's quite a difference
I have my HB and SP43 "floating" really high. I even "screwed up"
Hmmm, maybe I will try your approach GilmourD and lower them. I do like the Fralin Unbucker a lot. It has a really clear and defined bass (not muddy at all). I wouldn't mind having some Unbuckers in a LP style guitar......find one first though 8) |
