Telecaster ashtray bridge with humbucker

Evening all.Does anyone know if someone or some company makes the ashtray bridge with a humbucker slot.I prefer the look of the ashtray to the modern bridge but can only find a modern bridge that accepts a humbucker.

You haven't seen one because they don't exist. They don't exist because the cavity for a humbucker is wider than an ashtray bridge.

You could probably cut a humbucker sized opening in an ashtray bridge. You'd be better off with a GE Smith type bridge and a humbucker ring.

I hope T V Jones some out with a Savalas variant for the 3 brass barrel configuration. I think that might attract some folks.

To answer the original question: I think if a large enough number of people used the "Shoehorn" method for full sized humbuckers instead of the 'English' method with the big spaces alongside, then there might be some interest. The truth is guitar people are creatures of habit and we demand those HB tabs and adjustment screws alongside. That means the vast number of humbucker routs are oversized, and then there are the many who would go vintage bridge with a stacked blade or lil 59 style pickup. The remaining group is actually very tiny.

Notice how rare different rings for minibuckers are? And putting a minibucker in a vintage sized bridge plate is very doable and yet even that hasn't been done yet.

That's why I was kinda surprised at the ferocity of public opinion against the Strate plate last month. Any halfway functioning variant in guitar modding tech should be nurtured. I know I'm kinda quick to slap down certain ideas sometimes and I apologize but I sense if we want lots of cool choices, we should say lots of nice things about just about all professionally presented choices, and when we aren't sure about it, only buy one.

Having had my Cumba-ya moment, I think the big chrome HB bridge Tele plates that exist now are enormous. Way too big for my guitars. Something smaller has to happen.

Off-topic, so sorry, but I just asked Tom Jones this very question yesterday, and he said that a 3-saddle version of the Savalas bridge should be out by January 2009 NAMM.
