Bill Lawerence Pickup

I've had a L-280 in the bridge of my '52 for a few years and i've loved it, but today the bridge pickup buzzed and popped whenever i touched the bridge. I figured it was one of my solder joints so i opened up the control cavity and everything was fine so then i took it out of the bridge to see what would happen and it got quiet. i finally traced it to the joint from the windings to the screw hole in the pickup. i just disconnected the joint and everything seems to be fine now (it might be a little louder than when it wasn't buzzing). i'm just a tinkerer so i'm not sure if my little quick fix is going to be okay or if there's a better way to fix the problem. thanks in advance.
