stumped by flush-mount jack
Hi,
I have a recessed jack on my G&L ASAT Special that a friend messed up. He stepped on the cord in the midst of some sort of *****in' solo and (from what I can tell) bent the contacts on the inside of the jack. The jack works intermittently, and cuts out when you tweak the cord one way or another. I can't figure out how to take it apart and repair it. It looks something like this: http://www.music123.com/ProLine-Flus...70585.Music123 How would I get a tool deep enough inside the output jack cavity to turn the nut? A deep socket set? Doesn't seem like it would fit in the control cavity, though. The worst part? It's been in this condition since 1999! |

I especially loved how you had a link to the exact solution, and I mean exact! It actually made me chuckle. Thanks for doing what you do. |

It is weird. I feel that G + L has given away hundreds of possible sales because people lack confidence in that strange design. They should just bite the bullet and get rid of it. The fact that I've had no issues personally with this jack design changes nothing.
Dr. Jack to the rescue, again! |

Frank Ford made a tool that might help with removing one of those jacks (or maybe not, I'm not sure how tightly mounted they are in the body):
http://www.frets.com/HomeShopTech/Pr...hegripper.html In any event, it's a cool tool. |
