Conssidering converting my hot rod 52 neck pu to single coil
Has anyone here done this and how difficult would it be to this?is it just a matter of getting a traditional tele pickguard and dropping it in or is it more involved than that?thanks

Why do you want to switch?
I was considering doing the opposite. . .

Since no one seems to want to address your question ?...I will....If you body mount your single coil neck pup (like a regular 52ri) it will be a tad more involved (but not much)...or you can use a later style pickguard w/ the 2 holes for mounting the pup....and just use the Standard Tele wiring Diagram to check your circuit....if you have basic soldering skills, should be a piece of cake.

I believe that the Hot Rod has different valued components in the tone circuit to achieve a better match with the two types of pickup. For instance - 375K pots rather than 250K. If this is indeed the case, changeover may be a bit more fiddly.
But I am also curious as to why one would buy a more pricey Tele and then make changes that will remove what makes it special and reduce its resale value.
