excessive ground noise on my new tele..

Hi everyone. Well, i just bought my first tele on ebay, a partcaster (warmoth neck, us custom guitars body). Faboulous guitar, killer tone & feel, great price..

.. the only problem is, it seems to have grounding problems (??), that kind of make it unplayable. As soon as i take my hands off the strings (or the bridge - control plate) there is severe buzz (i 've tried it on all my amps: alessandro, twin reverb, deluxe, boogie 22+ and a couple of solid state ones with the same results). My strat and a couple of other teles (musicman albert lee & yamaha mike stern) we tried with the same setups sound dead quiet compared. I play with a clean sound so i don't mind a bit of buzz normally but what could be causing this? I 'm taking the guitar to a tech, but i would like to have some background before i change something on it, because the sound is great. Pickups are bridge GFS fat body, neck texas special (weird for a tele but they sound stellar). If i do some grounding or shielding wouldn't it alter the sound a bit? From looking around the forum, i guess the bridge ain't grounded? (the guitar IS professionally assembled, great neck pocket fit, nut e.t.c.)

Thanks for any suggestions or opinions. I 've wanted a tele for years, and finally a friend found this on ebay.. its a really great instrument!

Here 's a pic:

If you have a jumper wire (wire with little clips on each end), clip one end to the bridge plate and the other to the control plate (switch mounting screw is a good place). If the buzzing is reduced, you need to run a grounding wire from under the bridge plate to the back of the volume pot.

You can also just try it with a piece of wire.

I had the same problem with my 52RI. I shielded all the body cavities with self adhesive copper foil (Stew Mac), soldered small ground wires to the bottom of each cavity and ran each wire to the control cavity. I then soldered the 2 wires along with a small "pig tail" (3rd wire) to the bottom of the control cavity. Next I soldered the pig tail to the back of the volume pot. Problem solved. There are plenty of post here to get into all the details.

I used copper tape under the bridge and soldered a wire between the tape and the volume pot;

Worked fine
