What do you guys recommend to fill in a ding on a polyester coated neck?

Put as wet cloth over it, and gently steam it back with a soldering iron. The wood is still there, just compressed. After you have got it out as best you can, fill with drops of krazy glue, and sand it smooth when dry. It'll be almost invisible.
