50's Mod for Esquire

OK so i've read about the 50's mod and I want to try it on my Esquire. I tried the cap/res vol kit and did'nt like it but I also don't like how the treble gets rolled off almost imediately when I roll the volume down. I think the 50's mod may be the way to go. My only question is do I un-solder the jack hot and then re-solder both the jack hot and a wire from the tone to the vol pot? Or can I just solder the wire underneath on the lug that the jack hot is soldered to? Here's how my Esquire is wired now:
