Vindicated at Last !...Attn. Jack Wells

Jack...regarding your Excellent post awhile back on the USA Bi-flex Truss rod...you will remember me mentioning a Pink slip that came w/ HWY 1 Guitars, and that even though the Necks appear identical to the USA Series w/ the Walnut access dowel in the headstock, the slip cautioned that it was NOT equipped w/ a Bi-flex Rod....well lo & behold, I finally got a 2007 HWY1 in the Shop for work, that had all the Case Candy in the case intact...and there was the Mystery Pink Slip !!!...and best of all, I've realized...I wasn't losing my mind !!...hope the Pic is large enough to read.....Tony

But to add...I still don't understand why (from a cost standpoint) Fender would go to the trouble of making 2 different (internally) necks...when it would just be easier to include the Bi-flex feature w/ the HWY1 series.....so all you E-Bay Buyers...even though you may think you have a bi-flex neck...you just might not. ??

I could tell you'd seen something somewhere, glad you can relax now that it has been found.
Why two types? Possible they had a bottleneck in the supply chain on the fancier bi-flex rods and decided to use up some of the others they had on hand to satisfy production quotas. Just a guess, as you're right, no reason for the substitution otherwise.

Proof at last ............ but I never doubted you. I still think there was a factory screw-up and walnut access plugs were put in some necks by mistake instead of the normal black plastic hole liner.

Thanks guys for trusting in me...I was beginning to wonder about myself :)

Only thing that makes your theory somewhat doubtful Jack....is the fact that the earlier HWY1s with the Normal smaller decal....were Identical from outward appearance to the same year American Standard or Series 22 fret Top-adjust necks..except the serial# on the rear was more centered, whilst the Real USA series, had the Ser# up near the rounded tip of the headstock...so I guess the Mystery continues somewhat....This is where we need Mark Davis to call them, and see if they can explain it away ??....I do know for a fact, that Reliable Fender...aka...The Stratosphere, used to sell many a USA Neck to folks..and not mentioning it was from a HWY1...I think they do specify now though ?

Hate to keep Beatin a Deceased Horse...but also note that these HWY1 look-alike Necks, also take the slim 1/8" allen wrench as used on American Standard/Series....and Not the larger Allen as used on necks w/ the Black Plastic recess surround...???....I'll stop now...It's sorta my White Whale....
