Longer Neck Screws

Does anybody know where I can get some longer neck screws. The Nutcaster build and another build I am doing have a full 2" thick body.I will need some 2" screws but not too sure where to find them. Can I just go to the hardware store?
Should I use stainless steel?
Thanks

Most of your "hardware grade" stainless screws are pretty soft, and will not take the torque that a good steel screw will. The risk of breaking is much greater.

If corrosion is an issue, I install them with paste wax.

While that may be true, there is no need to tighten neck screws enough that you'd come close to breaking the screws. Pilot holes that are the right size will prevent that, and some wax on the tip of the screw will help it go in a little more easily.

Just be careful that the screws aren't too long. A friend of mine did that a long time ago and they came through the top of the fingerboard.

i have read the screws should be just below the fingerboard
i go 3/4 the depth of the neck wood or even closer

i have noticed that stainless screws aint that hard either
the steel ones i get here are crap so i don't use them
i reckon its mostly chinese stuff and we all know the similariteis between cheese and chinese steel

Go to a decent Marine Supply store like West Marine, Boater's World, etc.
They carry all the stainless steel hardware you could want and in my
opinion at a better quality over HomeDepot or Lowes.
