Fender Lap Steel ??
Quick question, Fender Lap Steel I jus got has a serial # behind the pickup of #9363. Any idea what year that might be? I'm guessing but the top read "Fender Electric Instruments" and has the Tele pickup, BUT The knobs and I believe cover of the pickup may have been replaced with the serial number #9363. Any help would be appreciated.

The serial number on these means nothing at all. You have to date it by the pot codes.
Only the Fender Champion has the Tele pickup and they were made from 1949-54. The Fender Champ has a pickup thats more like a Strat and those were made from 54-72. |

Thanks
Mark: Thanks for info. That helps me alot. Someone told me the four numbers meant month, day and year? The last two meaning the year. In my case its a 63, and there is no way this is a 1963. Its the earlier one. with the Telecaster pickup. I was told it was a 1954. I'll check the pots.
