Ferrules removal.

Simple question,how do I remove the ferrules on my '71 tele,without causing any damage....and the best way to replace them after a refin.

I assume you're talking about the body ferrules. After removing the bridge I'd put an eigth inch rod down through the string through holes and give it a light tap with a small hammer.

When you reinstall them, the new finish will be in the holes if you didn't plug them while spraying so the ferrules probably won't go right in. Get a #1 phillips screwdriver. That's a small one. The tip should fit into the hole in the ferrule. Put the ferrule over a hole with the screwdriver in the ferrule hole. Hold a hot soldering iron against the screwdriver shank near the ferrule. The ferrule will heat up and soften the finish and should slip right in.......... with a little force.
