J5 Noise / Fix

I have a new J5 playing it thru a Blues Junior amp. It is very noisy and very susceptible to static from carpeting. I had it checked out by a reputable repair shop and they suggested grounding both the humbucker and single coil pickups. The upside is it will be very quiet the downside it will void any warranty I have on the axe and when in the center position I'll no longer have separate volume control of each pickup. Regardless of which volume control you use it will effect both pickups. What's a poor boy to do ? :(
Anyone else come across these noise issues with the J5 and if so how to you get around them.
Thanx,
Peter

Welcome to the forum!! This is your first post. You'll like it here. This is the best forum around. These guys know everything about Fenders/Squiers. Actually you'll find they know a lot about most guitars out there.
Be patient, you'll get some help on your J5. I'm a newbie and I don't know anything about the J5. I think someone did say to use an anti-static dryer sheet. That's what the automotive places tell you to do when the seats create static, rub it on the seats.
Anyway, wait for a professional guitarist help you out.
In the meantime, check the site out. You will be amazed at the knowledge.
The moderators are great here too.
