Pickup wiring help

I posted this in the pickups forum but I thought I would try here as well.

I'm wiring a set of Pete Biltoft pickups into a friend's Tele. The neck pickup (a single-blade pickup) has the normal lead and ground plus a third wire that is really just the wire-mesh shielding that is twisted into a wire.

Anyone know where that wire should be attached? Pete's website is down right now so I can't contact him.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The shield should go to ground.(back of a pot)

Pete didn't supply a schematics ? that surprises me...

Beware tho, When you close the control casing. This shielded wire might make contact with pot / switch terminals and there will be no sound...

So you want to isolate the shielding, tape maybe or shrink tubing...

Yes, the "extra" lead is Pete's independent ground/shield lead. It should be soldered to the guitar's ground, typically the back of the volume pot.
