When I touch the bridge and the control plate, ...

with my right hand, the buzzing on my '52 RI stops. It also stops when my left hand makes contact with the strings, and starts when I pull off.

What is causing this? How can I fix it? Seems like the simplest fix woud be to run a ground wire from the bridge to one of the attach screws for the pickup selector switch... What's the real answer?

My American Series Tele doesn't do this, so I'm thinking my amp is grounded okay. Both guitars have Texas Tele Specials in them. The '52 has the 4-way switch mod, and the American Series has the standard 3-way.

Thanks!

Been reading...

Looks like there should be a ground running from the neck pup to the volume pot for the 4-way switch mod.

Interestingly enough, I ordered a shielded pickguard last week, and the vendor says it needs grounded to a pot also.

So, when the guard comes in, I'll have the neck pup ground checked (fixed?) at the same time I have the shielded guard and it's ground wire installed (pathetic, but I don't solder).

While we're at it, I'll have the bridge pup ground checked, as well...

Sound right?

John :)

Sounds right

But remember, you are using single coil (NOT hum cancelling) pickups. I believe you will only be truely quiet in the both pickup mode due to the Texas Specials neck pickup being RWRP.

Yes, that's right. And, I can totally live with that. I just want to lose the pronounced grounding buzz. A little 60-cycle hum is fine. My American Series is already there. Pretty quiet, except for a little RF noise, and totally quiet with both pups selected. Just need to get the '52 there too.

Thanks!

John :)

Hey John, how do you like the 4th position with the neck and bridge in series?
