Kenny, I looked at a four-way for awhile and was not able to figure out a way to do what you want. That doesn't mean that it can't be done, it only means that I did not figure it out in my slow way. :)
However, the Yamaha 4-pole, 5 way switch will do exactly what you want wwith the added position of yielding both pups out of phase, a cap and with no tone. In the Yamaha paperwork, they refer to this as the Donahue Tele wiring. The switch is available from Stew-Mac as is the manual. |

I couldn't figure out a way to do it with a 4-way, either. If you really want to eliminate the tone control, why not wire the guitar with the usual 3-way switch, and make the tone control a push/pull that would bypass the tone control when pulled. Since the switch really only has to be an on/off switch, rather than a DPDT switch, you do not have to settle for one of those push/pulls that is built on a minipot -- the taper on those things is awful. I believe Allparts sells a fullsize pot that has an on/off switch built on. This would do the trick.

KBR-you can just use a 3-way and modify the tone pot to be "open" at the very end of the travel. This way you can also get any of the positions without a tone control load. The pot can be modded with scraping or nail polish, just so the wiper sees an open circuit when fully clockwise.
