Fender Squire Special ButterScotch Blonde

Got my $170 Affinity Special last night and did Fender ever mess up. The pickups in this thing are really hot.
This is right out of the box. The only adjustment was tuning. I turned the gain up pretty high and there was no hum. I assumed that I would have to shield the cavities right off but "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". It sounds better than my expensive Tele. There are some cheap things about it (made in China) like the tuners, the nut and the smaller fret wire. But the great sound it makes more than compensates for the low end parts. I'm going to put my GK-2A Synth pickup on it and make it my Roland Ready Tele.

Sounds Nice!

Keep us posted how this guitar works out for you. I live within driving distance of 3 Guitar Centers and none of them have this guitar. Keep saying they have some coming. I want to get one one just to play with...

I got one from MF, I do that alot and return it... not intentionally... but it's usually on their dime because I do find something wrong, ... their shipping/packaging is a bit scarey and consistantly so but they don't seem to caere... but anyway, returns have never been an issue aside from the inconvenience, so what the heck... anyway... I got one w/plans to return it, got scared again from the packaging NONE, but couldn't (came thru UPS w/o a scratch)...

... side by side with some of it's cousins unless you're name conscious you can't beat the $160 I paid for it... as far as the other stuff, at that price, not counting a refret, blow the warranty and customize it. You can pay that much for a body (pending wood type)...

Anyway, it's a "limited" run... so they probably intentionally are trying to bring up that line?

Compared to others even twice that price, the only thing I found cheap was the threeway switch... but for $3... who cares? No hum all the way up on mine.

Let me qualify, my opinion since may come into question... I spend hours using the local SA store as my personal studio and get to play the 2K+ units for 2-3 hours at a clip... and sell a few for them for their trouble/graciousness... so for what my opinion is worth, get one and play it for a few hours and see for yourself... it will sell itself if even as a backup for that price.

Regards.

I just bought a Butterscotch Blonde Squire Affinity Tele from a local shop and I love it! I couldn't justify spending $500 + for a guitar I'm not gonna' gig with. I just bought it to learn some chords and participate in the local jam sessions and feel it's a great guitar. I tuned it two days ago and it's still in tune!!!

I may replace the pickups soon but other than that, it's great!
