Push-Push Pot Won't Stay Pushed In...

...The pot hasn't been used much at all and has been replaced once. Will electronic cleaner help any or is the spring inside the pot broken? It's a minor hassle to install a new one, so I hope I won't have to. If I do have to install a new pot I may just go with a push-pull type. That's what I originally had in the guitar (USACG Hardtail Strat with VZ Vintage Pluses mid and neck, VZ Blues bridge). Any suggestions? Thank you.

Tom

Have you tried switch cleaner?

I suspect something's broken inside.

Chickenpicker,

I need to get some electronic cleaner, so no I've not tried it. I'm afraid you may be right about something broken inside the switch though. Strange thing...the switch worked just fine last time I played it. It's just been sitting. I had a push-push pot go out on another Strat the same exact way. It too had just been sitting and it worked fine last time it was used. Evidently there's an internal spring that is compressed and it just snaps after awhile? Your guess is as good as mine. I do think I'll just go to push-pull pots next time though. They're simpler and more reliable.
