Ebay seller with great looking bodies

Just stumbled across a an Ebay seller that has some very nice looking Tele (and other models) bodies: cstcustomguitars is his name on Ebay, check out that BEAUTIFUL ash thinline HB-routed tele he has for sale at the moment (and somebody please buy it quick before I succumb to GAS, as I'd like one exactly like that but wiht 2x P90 routes...): http://cgi.ebay.at/BEAUTIFUL-ASH-TOP...QQcmdZViewItem
I already contacted that guy via Ebay, and it seems like for the moment he is only selling on Ebay, but wants to take custom orders in the future, too.

Yep, it sure looks pretty, but I have to wonder about the practicality of having the lower f-hole cut right in the center of the control cavity. That certainly puts a damper on a builder's options.

Umm, but where else would you put the control cavity? I mean, a thinline or sem-acoustic guitar is more or else one large control cavity...

Looks very nice.

For my purposes, it is too bad this guy is in Germany.

I agree that for a Tele, the f-hole on the lower bout is not optimal. I think a body like this would look cool with an ES-135-style mounted pickguard and controls.

Wouldn't that be wild-looking? I mean it already has the symetrical f-holes.

Rathmann, as drssyoon has mentioned, yes, he's in the US - I use German Ebay to log in, that's what may have mislead you...
Look at his older options, he offers various f-hole & control configurations - I love the dual-f-holes-on-a-tele-concept ever since I saw it the first time on USACG (gotta check again where they place controls). I think it would look good with an LP-like toggle switch, either on the upper bout or on the lower horn of the body, and the tone & vol. controls above the lower f-hole...

Hey guys,

I have one of his bodies. I eBayed it over a year ago. Same thing...double F-hole thinline style body. Ash body...flame maple top. I bought a '55 RI CIJ Tele neck from Stratosphere (eBay) and the neck was a tad too big for the pocket. A buddy of mine is widening the pocket for me. When I get it back I'm going to stain the body (cherry mahogany?), drop in some Harmonic Design Z-90s, Callaham tuners/bridge, a 4-way switch and hope for the best.

His neck pockets seem standard. My strat neck fit snugly (of course it had the extra space on the corners because of the rounded heel). So I'm assuming the CIJ neck isn't quite standard.

I thought that the body would have been a little more finished. You have to sand around the F-holes for smoother results. But I guess I should've assumed that. I got mine for $216.00 including shipping. It looks like someone will get it for less. Oh well...so far I'm happy with mine. Can't wait to set it up!

jw,
so, what's the controls layout like on yours? Do you happen to have any pics?

RomanS,

I have pics somewhere. But none of the control cavity. I'll try to get some by the end of the week.

I must say that the pre-drilled tone hole is pretty close to the edge of the body (on mine). I had to buy mini pots. But other than that it has plenty of room.

No hurry!
The tone control on those with a straight layout does indeed seem to be a bit close to the edge.
