cool 5-way switch on PEAVEY JD model... yes, PEAVEY.

Man, I'd LOVE to have this switch on my tele... anybody know how to wire it?

Peavey Omniac JD USA
"Instead of trying to make strat-type sounds available by sqeezing in a 3rd pickup, the Omniac does the job with some simple but clever wiring. Between stock bridge & neck pickup positions 1 & 5, Peavey provides both pickups combined with a cap & resistor network for the 'notched strat' tone, both pickups in parrallel [which is a standard tele switch position of course],and a neck pickup with addee capacitor for archtop-style jazz tones or overdriven 'woman' tones."

OK, so the "neck + cap" probably sounds pretty similar to the neck with the tone knob turned down. But this "notched strat" tone has me VERY interested... I'd love to be able to get that wiring schem.

Do a search here for the Fender JD (Custom Shop or MIJ) model schematics. Donahue has used this wiring set up since the '70's. It was part of his Fender model in '90's, his prototype G&L JD5 (still a part of the G&L online catalog), and now the Peavey model.

Cool. Thanks. Found the thread, printed the schem. Next time I open her up, may have to give this a try...

Hey, Sorry to be a bother, but the mystery and concept of this wiring scheme has got the best of me, and I'd like to give it a go in my tele.

I guess i'll be using the following diagram as a basis for it, but i don't know much about superswitches. So first off, Is Stew-Mac's Superswitch the right switch for the Job?

And Will the tone and volume controls be active in all positions? I've read a few different people saying that the layout of the JD is a few different things, and I am wondering exactly what this Schem is going to give me- My assumption is

( 1. Neck only 2. Neck+Bridge series 3. Neck/Bridge Parallel 4. Series out of phase (with R/C to put low freq's in phase), and 5. Bridge only )

I don't really have a good grip on the layout of the poles of this switch- Will the Volume and Tone controls be active in all positions? It doesnt look like it to me, but i could be quite off (like i said, i have zero familiarity with these overly-complex switches)

I appreciate any answers, and sorry for being a pain, but I think for future reference, it would be nice to have a definitive Be-All and End-All to these JD threads, as all the other's ive searched have generally ended in the same dead end.

Thanks.
