USACG: The 54 neck question & truss rod style question
Hi all,
I am in the process of configuring my first partscaster and have one question about this: 1. The 54 neck from USACG: It has a 0.090 taper. On the website USACG mentions they prefer a 0.070 taper in general. So: has anyone had the chance to compare this neck with the 2 tapers? What was your opinion? 2. Truss rod screw: Is there any drawback in putting the truss rod screw at the headstock for easy access (other than non-vintage looks)? Peter |

If you want correct repro of a 54 model use the .090" taper. If you want to play it and like modern fender necks generally get the standard taper.. 20thou over the length of the board will feel slightly different but most prolly wouldnt pick it.
The headstock adjuster is a must have with the 22 fret optional and more convenient with the 21 fret unless you are doing a 54 repro and want it cosmetically correct right down to slotted nickel screws. The rear adjuster can be tweaked with the guard off but with 22 fret to get at it the neck comes off to be adjusted from rear. not sure whether you could get 22 fret with rear adjust anhoo.
