Mount Pickups W/O Screws???
OK . . . I did a search, and d/n get the answer I needed.
I have an 2003. A/S. Someone "gave me" - they really did - a single ply pickguard, 5-screw mount, but w/o the screw holes to mount the neck pup. I want to swap to this p/gd. So, how the heck do you mount that pup and how do you make any needed adjustments??? I know I could figure it out, but you guys are so damned good, I know someone will save me the time??? Thanks in advance, Vince |

guards without the pup mount screw holes still use screws to mount the pickup. the screws may be different than those used to mount to a pickguard are. usually they are a 'self-tapping' wood screw. the pickup height adjust is made (somewhat inconvieniently) by taking the 'guard off, adjusting the height (adjusting the screws up and/or down) then replacing the 'guard. sometimes this type/style of mounting will use springs between the bottom of the pup and sometimes a dense foam will be used (like with p-bass and j-bass pickups). either is effective, but springs tend to be a little more helpful/adjustable.
hope this helps.
