4way switch wiring
Hi, i'm doing the 4way switch mod to my american standard tele. The PU's of choice are Di marzio Twang Kings in both positons, It seems a stupid question, but the standard wiring has the shield cable from the neck PU that goes to one of the switch screws. The 4way wiring diagram has no such connection. The Twang kings both have an extra ground wire (chrome cover for neck PU and copper plate for bridge PU). Instead of normally grounding those wires to the back of a pot should i use one to connect to the switch screw, or it is unnecessary?
I also changed the standard bridge with a vintage 3 saddle bridge, to go with a bigsby tremolo. The wire that was grounding the standard brdge still has to go to the vol pot? I'm following the instructions provided by fender with the 4 way switch mod, but sadly some things aren't the same.... Sorry for the stupind questions, but i'd really like to have my tele modded as it should Thank'sa lot!!!! |

Hi,
With the 4 way mod switch you need to run a seperate line from the neck coverplate to the switch ie two wires go to the switch and one to earth on the pot. Normally you have to add the extra cover wire so you're ahead of the game there! With regards to the bridge earth I would put it on the pot as you would normally do. I haven't tried this installation with the DiMarzios but i can't see why that wouldn't work. Let us know how you go. |
