Baja tele ash tray cover and pickguard question

hi, everybody , this is my first post -

hope you can help me (and apologies if i'm posting in the wrong place)
I'd like to personalize my desert sand baja tele with a chrome pickguard and matching ash tray bridge cover.

Can anyone recommend a stockist for the suitable items? - i'm unsure which versions of the ash tray will definitely fit a Baja tele. (i'm in the uk but am happy to order from eBay in North america or Europe)

and lastly, thanks in advance

Welcome aboard.

I don't know about sources in your area, but as far as I know there is only one size/type ash tray. I can swap mine from Baja to Esquire to Hwy1, no problem.

Okay scouse, try Axes-R-Us on the web.

I don't know if they'll have a chrome pickguard (call them and ask) but they should have a stock Fender bridge cover. As Tdot says, there's only one - although I have seen some aftermarket copies - and they fit all Fender vintage Tele bridges.

If you have to, you could order a pickguard from WD Music in the USA.

Best,

Kevin (former Bootle guttersnipe!)

Just a note:

If you happen to buy the "ashtray" cover from stewmac (as i did), then it needs modifation to fit tight onto baja bridge.

edit: it was too loose around the bridge plate (all my teles - a mij, a cheapo with wilkinson bridge and the baja), so i soldered 1mm thickening pieces of brass to the cover`s curved inner contact surfaces, now it fits perfect.

I bought mine from Stewmac and it fitted the Baja with no problems. Also fits the Barden Bridge, which is installed now.

One thing though, there are differences in the Bridges. The Stewmac one did not fit an American Standard I had

I have a StewMac cover that actually fits my '74 Tele Custom better than a Fender cover. The Custom has a larger pickguard that comes closer to the bridge plate and the profile of the StewMac plate is just slightly different and fits better. And the StewMac plate actually feels like a better made piece than a new Fender one that I also have.

Confusion is good! Where in Scotland?

Ah, a Weegie! But you have me on the second one - Dundee?

I have quite a few relatives who are Auld Reekonians!

Did you have any luck with the cover or pickguard?
