Removing old jack

I want to replace the old jack cup on one of my Tele's with an Electrosocket. Is there a trick to removing that piece of metal inside the jack hole without using some kind of special tool?

Bill

Using a pair of snipe nose pliers, grip one end of the clip through the hole and bend away from the direction the claw digs in, pushing it into the guitar and let it fall out.

I don't recommend leaving it in, in case it falls out later and shorts something.

I push them into the control area with a big screwdriver.

Thanks guys. For some reason pushing it in never occurred to me. I'll give that a try.

yeah, be careful - for some reason i felt it had to come out (as opposed to pushed in), and i chipped my finish around the perimeter. luckily i was at least smart enough to try this on a lower-end tele the first time and i learned my lesson, but it was a totally unnecessary lesson ;-)

grrrrrrr! stupid is as stupid does

Imput Jack ?? I have a 56 master built tele. The imput jack seems real tight . is this normal?

Not sure what an imput jack is. Every tele I've ever seen has an output.

Tight jacks are fine. This usually just means that the part of the jack that presses into the dent on the tip of the cable has a nice strong spring to it.
