Undoing FMIC's H1 Pickguard F-Up
One of the dumbest design gaffes I've ever seen: You have to pull the neck to adjust the neck pickup, because the adjustment screws are under the pickguard and the modern extended fingerboard blocks the pickguard in place against the pickup until the neck is loosened and pivoted away to provide clearance.. Breathtaking stupidity!
So, I happen to have an extra new American Standard pickguard with topside pickup adjustment which appears to have the same screw pattern. Has anyone done this retrofit? Any problems...say the threads hogged out of the existing fiber pickup baseplate by the original installation, or ??? Thanks for any useful input.
