Help please,pot question
Hi all,I have built and fitted an Alembic stratoblaster booster to my tele.I built it on vero and works superbly,BUT!!! the pot only works over the very last part of the sweep.I have only got a 50K log pot and it asks for a 50KRA pot but they are hard to come by so seemed to me that what I have should still work only in reverse?I have searched the sites and some say try a 100K lin with a 100k resistor across, just the same! then 100k with 470K & 5K resistors from 2 tag to 1&3, 100K from 1 to 2 and 5K from 2 to 3, but they all give the same results.
This is where I got the vero layout: http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/ma...O_001.gif.html This is the schematic site: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/...g_sbb_sc_i.pdf I modified it by connecting between output from vol pot and the jack and ommiting led jacks etc and used a dpdt switch and fitted in body of guitar. Pics of the board and fitting are in TDPRI:Andy Summers Tele, page 4 post 141 All help gratefully accepted as I am scrathing my head,as usual Ps Thanks for all the help with rewinding as I now have a bridge pup that matches my neck bucker in output and still got twang 10K reading. Hi, you could try wiring the 50 log pot in reverse by switching the 2 outside wires, effectively giving you a reverse log pot. The only downside is that the pot will now work backwards. The level will increase as you turn the pot counterclockwise instead of clockwise. Or, I have plenty of 50K reverse log pots, if you want to send me your address, I'll mail you one.

Hi Pat,Thanks for reply,I have tried that as well but it still only works over the last 9/10 of the sweep. from the vero layout 2 wires are connected together across 2 of the lugs? seems funny?I have tried the things I read on the forums.
Thanks for the offer of posting but I am in England, Getting bits over here is somewhat of a lottery Cheers Barrie |

At 1/2 way point of the sweep, a log pot will have 10% (approx) of the value and a reverse log will have 90% of the value. What you're observing (only works near the extremes) is working as advertised.
