Looking for a Push/Pull diag. for a 4 way switch
Hello to all
I would like to try phasing one of the pup's in my tele with a push / pull. There are some wiring diagrams for a 3 way switch, but I can't find one for a 4 way. Has anyone any info on this, good ~ bad idea ? is there a diagram available to try this with a 4 way. Thanks for a reply Steve |

out of phase works best when either the two pickups are wired in series, or they are Different pickup types (single coil and a paf for instance). That's because the out of phase passes the difference between the pickups into the amp, which usually sounds pretty weak and nasly. Wiring a tele in series with phase reversal works great because the 4-way mod makes up for the lost output. I don't think you would need a special diagram for a 4 way. just think about it like this:
neck pup -> push pull to reverse phase -> 4 way switch -> vol -> tone -> out put bridge pup -----------------------------/ |

Thanks for the reply Bearer
I believe that the 4 way offers a series & parallel option, & I would like to try it with phase rev. also. I'm just starting to wire the cont. plate, & my thought's are wondering A digram would sure help, for when I'm having those "Senior Moments" with the iron in my hand. ![]() I need to go over some of the other diag. & make sense of it all. Thank You for the reply CC
I would guess that the normal order of the 4 way would be fine. an audio or linear P/P, I really don't know which would be best. I have placed the 4 way in the rear, still keeping the vol & tone where they normaly are I do like your cocked wah diagram, & was hoping to add it to the mix. I considered a switch for the phasing, but the P/P would be better. Shame of it all, is I finally found 2 close matching CTS pots ( 264 & 265K A/B) & now I want to change things around again I guess I'll be needing a larger parts box, if I don't start soldering soon !!! Thanks Again ! Steve |
