3 saddle to 6 saddle bridge conversion... string height issues?
Hey folks, I plan on replacing the 3 saddle vintage-style bridge on my highway one tele for a 6 saddle style. I have found the proper replacement that fits the mounting and string spacing I require (either a gotoh modern tele bridge or a Fender MIM tele bridge) however, I am wondering whether or not I will run into action issues between the nut and the new saddles. Will they potentially not be tall enough and unable to adjust high enough to avoid fret buzz? Any comments and opinions are welcome!

I doubt you will encounter any serious problems...but each Guitar is slightly different...might require a small forward neck shim at the worst....We can walk you thru that.

There are two Fender bridge designs that are 6-saddle, will fit your Tele and could be described as a "Fender MIM tele bridge".
The first one is the bridge that comes on the MIM Deluxe Nashville Tele. It is a thin rolled steel plate with 3 raised sides, and 6 barrel-shaped steel saddles with intonation screws and strings offset from the center of the saddles. The second one is the bridge that comes on the current production MIM Standard Tele. It has an L-shaped flat, thick bridgeplate and six block-shaped saddles with intonation screws and strings centered on the saddles. This bridge looks virtually identical to the Gotoh standard Tele bridge. The Gotoh has non-magnetic brass plate and brass saddles. The MIM Standard has a magnetic steel bridgeplate and saddles that are something like potmetal and aren't magnetic. I agree with mellecaster. |
