Esquire mods
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I just got a new MIM Esquire, and while I dig the default pickup configuration, I'd love to hear about any mods that can be done with that single pickup, switch & knobs.
One idea I'm toying with is having each switch position to be a different volume level (I mainly play rock), but still have the tone knob fully functional. |

Plenty of options, for sure. A bit of search will yield various options to add/remove tone pot, caps, cocked-wah, etc.
If you want to change the max volume for each of the 3 positions, that should be straight forward, too. |

One of my favorite "Real World" Set-ups for an Esquire involves a GFS Blank Plate...and a simple On/off Toggle...it gives you Pickup w/ Tone bypass (Vol. only)...and 1 flick of the toggle up, gives you a preset Tone (where ever you have the Tone knob set)....Simple...effective...and lets you concentrate on Playing the Guitar.

this is a cool option for esquires
the 3way switch on a tele is discreet meaning each of the 3 positions don't touch the others like a 5 way...it is a true 2 pole 3 throw switch... so if you use a joe barden style PU with 4 conductor wires like the guitarfetish lilpuncher $30 and sounds amazing or the new neovin...the bridge PU can be wired single coil pos.1 / parallel pos. 2 / series pos. 3 ...how is that for variety? I noticed the blade style PUs had no difference in tone single coil vs. parallel.. except parallel in no hum....so the coolest wire up is parallel pos.1/ series pos.2/ series with the tone hardwired to pos.3 now you have #1 twang no hum / #2 rock and blues / #3 fat jazz humbucker tone
