So I'm putting my fender vintage hardtail bridge on to my newly built tele partscaster and I notice that the bridge screws are only just shorter in length than the depth of my tele deluxe body.

Is this normal?

I'm worried they might be too long, and don't want to damage my guitar!

The screws I got are 3rd party and listed as the "right length" for teles/strats. From: http://axesrus.co.uk/

If you're referring to those "1 inch x 3.5 mm" screws, those should be fine.

3.5mm probably translates to a # 6 and that's what I use.

The body is clearly more than 1.5 inches deep (the control rout on a Strat is a full 1.5 inches deep) and so you have a great deal of room for safety. I use a #6 x 1.25 inches bridge mount screw on all my Teles.
