1 Hotrail, 1 Volume, 1 Tone with Gibson style 3 way switch?
Hello, I am making a lap steel guitar and I would like to wire it this way:
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...tic=esquire_hb I found a post here where someone wanted to do a similar thing except the other way, switching from a gibson 3 way to a blade: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-tech...ele-style.html I'm hoping I could get a similar explaination about how to translate the blade style switch used in the wiring diagram above to the gibson style switch. Thanks. - anthony |

thanks...and sorry I wasn't totally clear
Thanks for the quick response.
a couple clarifications: 1. the type of switch I have is like this one: http://www.smarter.com/guitar-access...pi-306696.html which has 4 connections on the bottom (similar to the gibson type described in the seymour duncan diagram: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...atic=3ws_trans) Sorry, I'm really new to this and need it all explained, including where the ground wire would go. I can follow the directions but I don't understand the "why?" well enough to adjust to anything not clearly addressed in a diagram. thanks again. |

Looks like 3 lugs on that switch in the first link, if so you can't use that. If you have one of those on/on/on toggle switches (in the second link you gave) then you can use that. I guess you'll have to buy another switch.
An explanation of the on/on/on toggle is given in the Stewmac link I provided. If you finalise on your switch post the details - I'll then modify the diagram to suit that switch. EDIT: here is an update

Thanks cc9cii. I'll need to get a new switch, so I think I will get the one you recommended from stewmac if my local electronics store (DuVac in pasadena) doesn't have one.
So I need a DPDT switch right? What does the "throw" part refer to? I think I understand the pole part? Thanks again. |
